Everything on one map
Combine layers from different agencies without downloading, processing or converting files.

Data Ark is an open technology architecture that preserves, harmonizes and integrates Brazil’s environmental, land and climate data. It brings together information currently scattered across agencies and institutions, so governments, scientists and civil society can make evidence-based decisions.
Infrastructure for the common good.Open by principle. Brazilian by nature.
The pilot
Environmental, land and climate data often lives in separate systems. Arca’s pilot shows what changes when those systems begin to communicate.
One territory. Multiple perspectives.Combine layers from different agencies without downloading, processing or converting files.
Semantic harmonization ensures that “area”, “biome” and “municipality” mean the same thing across every source.
Every piece of information shows its source, update date and responsible agency.
How it works
Redundant copies protect historical records against loss, discontinuity and interruptions. Data that took decades to produce no longer depends on a single server or government.
Each source speaks its own language. Arca standardizes formats, reference systems and vocabularies so data from different sources can be compared and combined.
Environmental, land and climate data can be queried together through open interfaces (APIs). Solution builders do not need to rebuild the underlying data from scratch.
Ready-to-use views, APIs and datasets, with clear governance over who can access what. Transparency is the rule, and confidentiality is a justified exception.
An initiative open to public agencies, research institutions, civil society and international partners.
